Different sonography services includes following.

Is done at 7-10 weeks of pregnancy. This scan aims to ensure that the pregnancy is inside the uterus (not ectopic), demonstrate that the baby is alive, determine the number of embryos present, date the pregnancy and provide the estimated due date (edd), examine the baby for any early pregnancy abnormalities, assess the presence of internal bleeding.

Is performed between 11 to 13 weeks of pregnancy. The conditions that the nuchal scan checks for are Down’s syndrome, Edward’s syndrome, and Patau’s syndrome. This is calculated by taking into account the age of the mother, fetal heart rate measurement, measurement of two hormones in the mother’s blood (free ß-hcg and pappa), and the scan findings of nuchal translucency thickness (measurement of the fluid present behind the baby’s neck), nasal bone, blood flow through the fetal heart and ductus venous and fetal abnormalities.

Is performed between 20-24 weeks of pregnancy. This scan aims to identify any anatomical abnormality of the baby. Special attention is paid to the brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, bowel, kidneys, and limbs. The position of the placenta, amount of amniotic fluid, and fetal growth are also assessed.

A specialist examination of the fetal heart is recommended for women with a family history of congenital heart abnormalities, those with diabetes mellitus, and those taking antiepileptic drugs. It is done at 24 weeks

This is a transvaginal scan to measure the length of the cervix. It is recommended in women at high risk for preterm birth, including multiple pregnancies, those with a previous preterm birth, abnormalities of the uterus, or previous cervical surgery. This examination is usually carried out at the time of the anomaly scan but in women with previous preterm birth, it may be necessary to perform a series of scans starting from 16 weeks.

Is done around 32 weeks of pregnancy. It is done to assess the growth of the baby, amniotic fluid volume, blood flow to the baby and placenta, breathing movements, and limb movements of the baby.
